Playbill's three-day event celebrating Broadway's return was this past weekend in Times Square
This past weekend, Playbill hosted Curtain Up!, a three-day event celebrating Broadway's grand reopening post-Covid 19 pandemic. The celebration included performances, live podcast recordings and talkbacks with creatives. The event was split between two main locations: the Playbill Piano bar and the Main Stage. The Playbill Piano bar kicked off each morning with "What's Up Broadway?" feat. Ayanna Prescod and Christian Lewis of the podcast of the same name. Each morning, the pair introduced special guests such as Joe Iconis and the cast of FREESTYLE LOVE SUPREME.

The grand finale of the event happened on Sunday with a massive concert on the Main Stage. Here, almost every single Broadway show was represented and performed a number from their show. Actor Jelani Alladin hosted the event and kept the audience's spirits high. Notable standouts from the performance were the cast of CAROLINE OR CHANGE, a quartet of Evan's from DEAR EVAN HANSEN, an excerpt from THOUGHTS OF A COLORED MAN and a show-stopping final number from the cast of SIX.
